On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, the guns fell silent.
11:00AM of Novermber 11th, 1918 marked the signing of the armistice between the Allied and Central powers, marking the conclusion of the First World War.
Since then, subsequent November 11th’s have been marked as a day of rememberance and gratitude to members of the armed forces, both past and present.
In commemoration, we’d like to share one of our favorite pieces of rememberance.
This poem, In Flanders Fields, was written by Canadian Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae in honor of a fallen comrade, Alex Helmer, who perished at the Second Battle of Ypres in Belgium.
